Torque Calculator

Flexlogics Torque Calculator provides users with the ability to quickly and accurately calculate torque requirements for a variety of flange connections. It supports both US Customary and Metric units, as well as all common flange types. Users can easily select the type of flange, size, pressure, and material for their calculations. The calculator also allows users to input specific operating parameters, such as Bolt Material, temperature, or gasket type, to obtain the most accurate torque calculations. Additionally, the calculator can be used in combination with Connection Manager to keep records of flange connections and their associated torque requirements. These records can be accessed quickly and easily to ensure proper torque output.

2. From the Home page, click on TORQUE CALCULATOR, from either the large tile in the middle of the page or from the left side menu.

This will load the Torque Calculator Module.

From the Home page, click on TORQUE CALCULATOR, from either the large tile in the middle of the page or from the left side menu.

3. Once the module loads you can begin entering your specs. The required fields for this page are: Flange Standard, Nominal Pressure, Nominal Size, Flange Material, Bolt Material, Lubricant, Media, Insulated Connection, Gasket Type and Gasket Thickness.

  • Flange Standard at the moment only has 1 option, we are adding more as the system matures.
  • Nominal Pressure: The range for the pressure starts at 150# and goes up to 2500#. Some of these values will filter out, depending on other selections.
  • Nominal Size: The size can range from half inch all the way up to 24 inches.
  • Flange Material: You have 2 options for now, other options will be added as the system matures.
  • Bolt Material: There are 20 values to pick from, if you do not see the option you are looking for, please reach out to support@flexitallic.com
  • Lubricant: There are 40+ values to pick from that also include the Coefficient of friction, if you do not see the option you are looking for, please reach out to support@flexitallic.com
  • Media is a type forward search, meaning as you type the characters of the Media you are looking for the list will begin to filter on items that contain those characters. For example if you begin typing Wa the list will filter to Water and Sea Water. You then pick the media from the shortened list.
  • Insulated Connection: If the connection is insulated or not will affect the torque values.
  • Gasket Type: The gasket type will filter based on the thickness of the gasket you sellect.
  • Gasket Thickness: There are 2 options for gasket thickness: 1.5mm and 3mm.

4. If you set the temperature outside of the range for the Bolt Material, the system will show the following message, Temperature limit is -30°C to 1000°C

The temperature range is between -30 and whatever the Tmax value is for Bolt Material, therefore it will vary depending on the values you provide.

If you set the temperature outside of the range for the Bolt Material, the system will show the following message, Temperature limit is -30°C to 1000°C

5. If the combination of values do not calculate a torque value, the system will indicate is by displaying a warning This is an unsupported configuration. Please contact Flexitallic Engineering for support.
